Who I am
Hi I’m Emily, I’m a North East and Newcastle Wedding Photographer and the face behind Silverbird Photography.
I live in a little townhouse with my bearded guitar-playing husband Rich, our two kids, and a mad Cocker Spaniel called Jarvis.
In my spare time, I like to meet up with good pals, or get cosy on the sofa and watch an episode of Schitt’s Creek. Muddy dog walks in the countryside, followed by drinks in a cosy pub! During the summer, I do like to dabble in open-water swimming, and most years I take part in the Great north Swim in lake Windermere…trying desperately not to drown and think of all the big fish swimming under me! Winter time you can find me skiing in Norway mostly! I do love a bit of snow, and of course the apres-ski!
A few reasons why we might get along…
You want to book me because you really like my modern, fun style of photos and have made a connection with my work, or you really like my approach to photographing your day. Read on for a few more reasons why I might be a good fit for your day…
You can imagine your own wedding when you look at my photographs
Modern, fun and relaxed photos, packed with personality! That’s my style, and if that’s what you’re looking for, then great! If you’re sometimes awkward but love laughing a lot, we will certainly get on! I’ll get cheek-ache grinning behind the camera while I capture you having the best day ever.
You’re super laid-back and like to do things a bit differently
You’re creatives and not too hung up on cramming all the wedding traditions ever invented into your day. You’d rather just pick a couple and roll with it, or even put your own slant on things! You’d like me to capture all the important bits and all the fun and laughter too!
You hate your photographs being taken
The thought of awkward posing makes you shudder, but you’d like some gorgeous photos that tell the story of your day! You’re looking for a laid-back photographer who is fun to be around, who will put you at ease, and who could easily be one of your guests.
I use all my 15 years experience as an award-winning press photographer to capture your wedding day.
You want great photos and an unobtrusive photographer
Choosing your photographer is a big decision. I am a storytelling photographer. It’s engrained in my DNA through years of press photography, capturing real news events as they happen. You want your day captured as a story and presented to you as a stunning collection of photos without the photographer taking over.
You want great service
I love photographing couples that totally trust me to capture their day for them in the most beautiful and fun way! I’m a real person and I like to form meaningful relationships with all my couples. That’s why I only take on a limited amount of weddings each year. Every wedding is unique and I’m always on hand with handy tips and advice in the run-up to the wedding.
Your wedding day is ultimately a huge party to celebrate your love
Whether you celebrate your love on a beach, in a field, in a church, in a barn, up a mountain, in a forest, all that matters is that you’re surrounded by your nearest and dearest…and my modern and relaxed style that I shoot in lends itself very well to these epic kinds of wedding days.
If you’re feeling a little daunted at the thought of planning a perfect wedding day, I can help with regular emails with tips and tricks for a fantastically relaxed day.
LET’S TALK ABOUT
5 THINGS I love
Modern, Fun, STORYTELLING
I shoot the beautiful parts and the out-takes. The happy tears and the disco feet. I want you to spend your day having fun with your family and friends. I hear you when you say you want modern, relaxed photos and you don’t want the photographer taking over! We can make time for a few fun, casual portraits of the two of you and a few group shots, and I always keep these relaxed and cheese-free. My days are usually 90% candid and 10% directed.
ARE YOU READY?
I’d love to hear about your plans
In a past life I was an award-winning Press photographer. Having worked for local and national newspapers and magazines since 2002. Some pretty cool jobs have come my way! From spending the day with Jonny Wilkinson (quite a good day!), to meeting Sam Fender. I’ve photographed the Queen and the odd Prime Minister too. Oooh, and the REAL Santa in Lapland!
