The Best Wedding Venues in the North East
A hidden gem
St Chad’s is remarkably situated at the very heart of medieval Durham, thirty metres from the magnificent Cathedral, not far from Durham Castle, and just a stone’s throw from Durham’s marketplace and historic streets.
Most of the College buildings, which line North Bailey, were formerly Georgian town houses, though the interiors have changed over the years. Beyond the back gardens, the land falls away into the wooded gorge of the River Wear .

A GRADE II LISTED Manor House

Housed in a dramatic landmark building on the Gateshead Quayside, the BALTIC is one of the most recognisable venues in the North East. Fully licensed for civil ceremonies throughout the building, with multiple spaces ranging from the intimate Level 5 balcony to the vast Level 1 gallery floor.

A PENTHOUSE GALLERY WEDDING IN THE HEART OF NEWCASTLE

Even though I’ve photographed weddings at a good handful of the North East’s most beautiful venues, there are still some Northumberland gems I’d love to shoot more at — and a few I’m still waiting to tick off my list. Places like The Bosk, Kielder Waterside Tipis, Woodhill Hall, Le Petit Château, Healey Barn, Brinkburn, Shortflatt Tower, Hallington Mill, Marshall Meadows, Holy Island, and the incredible Bamburgh Castle — each one completely different, with its own atmosphere and styling potential. I’ve photographed some of them before, but not nearly enough. I’m always excited to return.
There are also venues I adore that I’d love the chance to shoot more regularly, including Doxford Barns, The Comb, and the stunning Alnwick Garden and Treehouse. All perfect settings for creative, modern weddings that feel relaxed and full of personality.
